I'm writing this Word for the Week on a Saturday night in "real time." It's hard to know what to say and much less what to think. My Word for the Week has carried me through so strongly, and it's holding until the end!
"My thoughts are not your thoughts." (This is from the voice of the Lord in Isaiah 55)
Well, my thoughts are crashing in at the moment. The implications of the pandemic are finally hitting me. It took a while, right? It's in the calm that my feelings are finally catching up.
We have the gift of time right now, as family. Time to catch our breath, time to settle into our new house. A knee injury has temporarily kept me from my typical miles of running each day, too. So we have time to be still.
Yet in the stillness, my thoughts are racing. The one comfort I can find is in those words: "My thoughts are not your thoughts." God is not looking at this situation from my vantage point.
The Lord sees infinitely more than I do!
In that truth, I can rejoice. The lesson the Holy Spirit taught me this summer (to accept in the love of Christ!) is falling into place with an even greater impact. I got to practice receptivity at my strongest point and now I get to practice in my weakness.
My thoughts are jumbled: thoughts about the present and the future. Thoughts about my mission and our family's needs. I am so grateful these are not God's thoughts.
His are bigger, better, more beautiful than mine. In this very moment when my strongest gifts seem not very helpful, God's love stands. Through the intercession of Our Lady's Immaculate Heart, I'll trust my thoughts to His thoughts, and my heart to His heart.

Jesus, I trust in You.
